I was originally inspired by photography during my exchange year in America. It was love at first sight.
As a photographer, I’ve seen it all. I started as a professional photographer 30 years ago when people were still shooting on 6x7cm negatives and producing black and white images in the darkroom. In the early 2000’s there was a panic when digital cameras came along and even that was overcome…
I have been studying photography alongside my work for 7 years. One of the highlights of my career has been to be awarded the Finnish Professional Photographers Association’s Master of Photography title, which is awarded for a series of 20 photographs. A total of 44 have been awarded since 1979.
I gave up my studio in Tampere, Finland in 2022 and currently live part of the year in Finland and part in Torrevieja, Spain. I enjoy the variety of not being tied to a place and being able to take photographs exactly where I am. Now that my two children are living on their own.
I have been teaching photography to private students since 2020. It’s amazing to see how they are developing in photography.
Lately I’ve also been making videos, it’s really fun. Coming from a photographer background, it’s been great to see how much more information you can add to a video compared to a photo. Learning new things is the best!

I learnt more in an hour than I would have done in dozens of hours of self-study. It was especially rewarding to get feedback from a professional on the photos I took. We looked at angles, framing, exposure, toning and image processing adjustments. In addition to great tips and advice, I had several moments of insight - yes, that's how it's done! In addition to learning, the sparring session was a lot of fun. It was a really good feeling, I will go again in the future. It's hard to imagine a better and faster way to learn photography.
I had the pleasure of working with Liisa on my family photoshoot and I couldn't be happier with the results. She captured beautiful and natural moments that truly reflected my personalities.
